Guildford Milkman wins Award for Self Employed Milkman of the Year
Outstanding customer service and a friendly, cheery smile really does go a long way, and Guy Whittaker, a milkman from Dairy Crest's Guilford depot, has won an award to prove it. Dairy Crest has voted him Self Employed Milkman of the Year because he consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty for his customers and company alike.
As one of the 24 quarterly winners chosen out of a total 1,572 self employed milkmen, Guy then pipped five other finalists to the post and recently accepted his title as winner, which automatically puts him forward to attend the prestigious National Self Employed Person of the Year Awards, which take place in September.
Guy, 42, has worked in the dairy industry for over 18 years, and still enjoys the early mornings. His milk round in Guilford takes in the areas of Farncombe and Guildford Town Centre, delivering to his 641 customers. Nominated by Dairy Crest for his dedication to the job and for his efficient, reliable service, Guy is always willing to take time to help his customers – be it to unscrew a tight jam-jar lid or change a tricky light bulb. They say nothing is too much trouble for Guy - he is wholly dependable and his cheerful face is a well-known sight in the local community.

Guy said: "I'm delighted to be announced the winner of the Dairy Crest Self Employed Milkman of the Year awards. So much has changed in my time as a milkman and I've never stopped enjoying the job. Back in the day everyone ordered semi-skimmed milk and then the occasional pint of orange juice or eggs. Today we have an online service called milk&more where customers can place and change orders up to 9pm at the night before I deliver. Now I deliver a huge range of products - the regular pint can now be anything from organic soya milk to 1% fat milk and then all sorts of other items from pet food and bin bags to croissants and bacon."

Why is my neck always sore/tight in different places (tug of war)?
I have been unable to get to a doctor so hoping someone could point me in the right direction. For about 4 months I have been having weird neck issues (just woke up one day). Everyday when I wake up the tightness and sore is in a different place, one day its the front of the neck pulling down, the next its the back. I have also found my leg muscles and everything in general is getting more tense. To me it almost feels like my muscles are in a tug of war and the winning side keeps changing.
For background I work in a cube and my posture leans forward ( seems to be very common). I also exercise a lot and am in good shape/condition. To try to combat this I have bought another pillow and have used heat/ice. I also have been trying to sit up straight a lot more, but I always seem to go back to the old bad position.Also I am under a lot of stress, which probably is playing a part.
Any guidance would be much appreciated
1] look up neck stretches on the net, and do them at least three times a day [ start of work, after lunch, and end of work ]. I would add other body stretches too.
2] see a chiropractor
3] see a masseuse
4] do ice packs two to three times a day for several days
5] take aspirin or ibuprofen, as directed on bottle
6] get up and walk around - to water cooler, bathroom, etc every two hours.
