How To Use Thinning Hair Shears

Don't cut out patterns with pinking shears... they're too inaccurate and your pattern won't sew together correctly. You want "bent dressmakers" for this, with blades as long as you can completely open one handed -- typically 9.5-11" for most women. Use the pinking shears to "soften" edges of interfacing that are on the backside of fabrics, to keep cut edges from raveling, but please do not cut out with pinking shears. Rotary cutters and mats are also not particularly accurate cutting instruments for garment making.
