This binding method is one of the most common among the wide-distribution printing industries, and can be done in a variety of different ways. One way to staple on the spine is by using a saddle stapler, such as explained above. Another method—preferred by the high-production on-demand market—is by using a Saddle Stitching Machine. For low and medium volume usage, however, there is no need to invest in a Saddle Stitching Machine; consider a Saddle Stapler instead. The Skrebba W115 Stapler features an easy bench-mount and large clamp so you can secure the stapler to a work table with confidence of a firm grip. Staple through up to 50 sheets of 20lb. paper when set in flat stapling mode, or 30 sheets when set in saddle stapling mode. When set in flat mode, you can staple at a throat depth up to 3" deep, or when in saddle mode, you can staple at a throat depth of about 8-1/4". You can staple sheets as tall as 18.325".
