Could anyone give me any advice on playing high notes on the flute with a tear drop shaped lip?
I have been playing the flute for a few months now in my beginning band class I really enjoy playing it and I do not want to switch instruments but with tear drop and everything it's hard to play high notes and im not sure how adjust my embouchure so that i can achieve this any tips or help would be really be appreciated .
Do you mean your top lip hangs down a bit in the middle? If so, what helps some students is playing slightly off center, preferably to the left. Experiment with shifting your embouchure slightly to the side. Good luck. It's a hurdle to get over, but there have been great flutists with this same problem who played to the side.
