Just imagine sitting for at least eight hours a day! Such working habit can cause body and muscle pains especially at the back and neck areas. It could also affect the proper posture. Because of these concerns, the traditional office chairs are in threat to be replaced by ergonomic ones as these are specially designed to provide comfort and to promote proper posture.
People come in all shapes and sizes and these become the determining factors in creating the proper workstation setup. But the good news, ergonomic chairs could adapt to any sizes and body types. The chairs are also available in a wide range of seat kinds from marginally contoured to those that can change forward or back to suit the difference in leg lengths. 1. The height of the seat. If you belong to the class of above average height, an ergonomic chair with an office seat form having a shoulder high adaptable back rest and a stretch seat will perfectly suit you. Whereas for persons of smaller frame, the petite office seat type would of course be suited. However, such type is not readily available in the market but you can order this. It is important that the user will have his feet flat on the floor with his thighs on a horizontal position and his arms on an even height with the desk.
2. The width and depth of the seat. For comfortable use, the seat should be wide enough. The depth from front to back of the seat should allow the user user to sit with his back against the backrest of the ergonomic office chair. The frontward or backward slope of the seat should also be adjustable.

4. The backrest and armrest. If the backrest is separate from the seat, it should be adjustable in height and angle that could support the natural curve of the spine. On the other hand, if the ergonomic chair has the seat and backrest as one piece, it should be adjustable in forward and back angles. However, it should have a barring device in order to secure it from moving too far backward or forward once the appropriate angle has been determined.
5. The seat material and swivel. The material should have enough padding in the seat and back for comfortable use. While the swivel should easily rotate in different areas.

Has anyone tried the Hobson ergonomic bike seat or other ergonomic seat - Road Bike use?
I just use one of those wide gel-cushioned replacement seats with springs. I also turn it downward some, so there is usually very little pressure on my loins. The only time I get really uncomfortable is if my jeans are too restrictive. It's better for your crotch to have a wide seat, especially if you're a man. I must use one of those seats to be really comfortable, because I carry a backpack full of books every time I leave the house. Those Hobson seats look nice, though. I might get one the next time I need a seat, if I remember.
