No operating system found on all Hard Drives?
I have three Hard Drives in my PC. One has XP installed and Two have Linux Mint installed
Upon Boot I get the message 'No operating system found press F1 to repeat boot sequence'
To change which Hard Drive I wish to Boot from I manually remove the Ribbon Cable to swap over and I am getting the same message on all Hard Drives. Here is what I have tried so far
I have tried swapping the Ribbon Cable
I have checked the Boot Order in BIOS
I have checked the Power Supply going to the Hard Drives
I am currently running from Linux LiveCD without problems however all the Hard Drives are not detected although an External USB Hard Drive is detected just fine
The Hard Drives are all IDE and my system specs. are as follows
Model = IBM 830541G
CPU = Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz
RAM = 2GiB
Can someone help please
1) Stop swapping drives. You could break a pin on a drive or oull a wire out of the leaf on a connector.
2) Boot a Linux disk and reinstall GRUB (that's the default loader that you get when you install Linux). It should find your operating systems. GRUB will give you a choice of system to boot to when you start up - even the systems on other drives. (You can manually add anything GRUB doesn't find - full instructions on the GRUB site.
3) All that swapping could have destroyed the bootloaders on all 3 drives - you may have to reinstall Mint on both of those drives (if you installed it correctly the first time, reinstalling it won't change anything but the bootloader and the kernel) and you may have to do a Windows repair to get boot.ini and the XP loader back.
