But they are not really deleted. They are simply removed from the directory and you can no longer see them. But the files content still exist intact. So at this point your lost files deleted can be retrieved by a data recovery tool.
Solution for situation 2: in this case you can insert your pen drive to another computer to see if it'll still work normally, without luck? Then it seems that your pen drive corrupted or crashed.
