Oral-B Electric Toothbrush - 8 Reasons to Choose Oral-B Professional Care Series

It is generally agreed that an electric toothbrush does a better job of cleaning your teeth than a manual brush. Views vary as to why, ranging from the school of thought which says that more plaque is removed by a powered toothbrush to those who believe that people actually brush their teeth for longer with a rechargeable toothbrush than they do with a manual toothbrush. There are plenty of products to choose from on the market so why choose an Oral-B electric toothbrush? Here are 8 reasons:

Pressure sensor: Every Oral-B electric toothbrush in the Professional Care range has a pressure sensor built in so that you are warned if you're pressing too hard when brushing your teeth.

Timer: Each Professional Care Oral-B electric toothbrush has a 2 minute timer with half minute signals to tell you when to change to brushing a different quarter of your teeth.

Choice of brushing motion: Depending on which model of Oral-B toothbrush you select, you get a choice of brushing motion; rotation (round and round), oscillation (side to side) or pulsation (in and out).

Cleaning modes: The 1000 model brush has one cleaning mode - the daily clean. The 3000 model has daily clean, sensitive and whitening modes while the 4000 model has those three modes plus deep clean. The 5000 series has all the same modes as the 4000 model but offers a massage mode in addition.

Choice of brush heads: All eight available brush heads are interchangeable for every Professional Care Oral-B electric toothbrush whether you choose floss action, sensitive, braces care, power tip, pro white, ortho, precision clean or dual clean. All brush heads indicate when they need changing.

Battery life: A fully charged Oral-B electric toothbrush will last up to two weeks with twice daily usage. This useful feature means that you won't need to pack the recharging base if you're going on a short trip. All the brushes have an indicator to show when they are fully charged; the 4000 and 5000 models have an indicator to show the actual level of charge.

Warranty: All the Professional Care brushes have a two year limited warranty and a 60 day satisfaction guarantee. If you aren't completely satisfied with the toothbrush, you can return it within 60 days of purchase for a full purchase price refund.

Extra features: The 4000 and 5000 models have base station toothbrush storage and travel cases.

Going to a new orthodondist? Why do they want to do things so differently?

I am going to a new orthodontist because I moved states. This woman wants to put a whole new different set of braces on my teeth!

Isn't that bit odd? Why can't she work with my own set? (Mine are in good shape--nothing broken)

I've been using rubber bands, and she told me to stop entirely. She is against them...

After a series of other crap, she noted that I would need orthognathic surgery (corrective jaw surgery)

I had never heard of taking my slightly bad bite to such extremes! My old ortho (which I had been seeing for multiple phases since i was EIGHT) had only EVER mentioned that I have a prominent jaw.

Opinions please! My mom doesn't understand why I am so skeptical, yet again she knows nothing about my previous orthodontic work or my old place--I just moved in with her. I'm fighting with her about it, and she just CAN't see my side.

I want to get good teeth as painless and least time-consuming as possible!

That does seem very extreme. I would insist on seeing someone for a second opinion. I would also call your old orthodontist and see if he knows anyone or knows of anyone, that he can refer you to. You might end up with a 'friend of a friend' type of referral.

If your mother refuses to listen to you and forces you to see this orthodontist, I would call your father (I assume). In most cases the second parent does have a certain amount of authority in the healthcare decisions of their children.

Most importantly and do this first, sit down with your mom and talk to her about your previous treatment. Explain your concerns, CALMLY. Ask then for a second opinion. It may help to write everything out in advance. Then you can be sure that you will not forget anything.
