Mamma Mia Is Still One of the Biggest Shows in the West End
Abba are one of the most celebrated and most successful pop groups of all time having sold over 375 million records worldwide, which makes them the fourth best-selling popular music artists ever. The affection for the Swedish pop legends has not really waned over the years as they still sell between two to three million records, even though they have not toured for many years. The groups combination of incredibly catchy pop tunes, glitzy stage outfits and quirky Swedish charm made ABBA a hit machine with thousands of adoring fans flocking to their live shows until they broke up in 1982. The ABBA songs lived on during the 80's and 90's and the huge fan club of devoted fans was still strong until the late 1990's when the band once again started to get some more new fans.
In 1999, Mamma Mia the Musical first premiered in London, which became an overnight success and the ABBA Gold album shooting to the top of the charts in the UK once again. The name of the Mamma Mia Musical is obviously from the 1975 number 1 hit, but the storyline is completely fictional and not in any way biographical. With two of the members of the band on board, Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, the magic and the authenticity of the ABBA shows were very much in the Mamma Mia musical.
The immediate success of the Mamma Mia musical came as a shock as many thought that the age of 70's disco was well and truly in the past, but the musical has proved that it is still very much alive. The incredible West End hit has already attracted well over 42 million people through the theatres doors and has gone on to gross $2 billion dollars worldwide. The toe tapping songs and gripping plot keeps audiences going back again and again, which attracted the eyes of the Hollywood movie bosses who turned the stage show into an award winning film. The Mamma Mia movie was released back in July 2008 and enjoyed much critical acclaim with award winning actors including Meryl Streep, Colin Firth and Pierce Brosnan lighting up the film and amazing audiences with their singing abilities. The Mamma Mia film has brought with it a whole new legion of ABBA fans who have since flocked to see the Mamma Mia musical. Because of this, the Mamma Mia musical has continued to grow and is still one of the most popular shows in the West End.

What should I wear to perform Mamma Mia?
I'm performing Mamma Mia(the song) with 2 other people at a high school performance and I'm not sure what we should wear. We want to be somewhat uniform. Any ideas?
Maybe you could wear something black and sleek but simple to show you mean business. Or if you don't like that you could wear a form fitting simple red dress too. If you want to hold somewhat a resemblance in between the three dresses you should wear the same color but NOT the same dress. Hope I helped and good luck with your show
