11 - 5.  0.688 winning percentage.  410 points scored.  309 points against.  43 TDs...sound like playoff numbers to me, yet still, under the control of the young Matt Cassel, the New England Patriots fell short of the playoffs for the first time since 2002.

So lets review the season a little bit.  The start of the Patriots season looked very bleak.  After a Tom Brady season ending injury in the first game of the season, the Pats season rested on a young, inexperienced quarterback out of USC, by the name of Matt Cassel.  The Patriots managed to squeeze out a win against the Chiefs 17-10.

Alright, so Week 2 found Matt Cassel in his first start since high school and some obvious nerves were creeping into him.  He threw for only 165 yards in his first start, but the Patriots did come out with a win...beating their AFC East rival Jets, by a score of 19-10.  Along with a win, Week 2 seemed to bring back some hope among the Patriot faithful and confidence began to grow.

But...along comes Week 3.  After the crushing defeat at the hands of the dolphins 38-13, confidence in Matt Cassel dropped like a stone.  And rightly so.  Matt threw for only 131 yards and looked more uncomfortable than he did in his first start.

Week 4 had the Patriots with a bye, and they came back Week 5 re-energized and ready to play.  They handed the 49ers a loss by a final score of 30-21.  And, the win seemed to restore a little bit of confidence in the team and it was nice for Patriot Nation to finally see Randy Moss in the picture.  With 111 yards and a TD, Randy was certainly a contributor and remained a contributor the rest of the season.

Week 6 came and went with the Pats losing to the Chargers 30-10 in what I would call a "fairly abysmal effort" by the Patriot squad.  But they rebounded in Week 7 with a huge beat down of ther Broncos 41-10 with Sammy Morris running for 138 yards.

Alright, so lets jump ahead to Week 11.  Even though the Patriots took a loss at the hands of the Jets in OT, something special happened that day and it restored confidence in everyone.  Matt Cassel came out and had his best performance of the season, throwing for 400 yards and 3 TDs.  And it only went up hill from there.  The Patriots next game was against their AFC rivals, the Miami Dolphins.  And once again Matt had an amazing performance throwing for 415 yards and 3 TDs.  The Patriots crushed the Dolphins in the rematch, 48-28.

Week 13 saw the Pats play the Steelers, and they got crushed.  The Patriots lost by a score of 30-10. In a weak effort on both sides of the ball.

The next month seemed to just breeze by and the Patriots won 3 straight.  Tied with the Dolphins atop the AFC East the Patriots needed a win in the final week and a loss from the Dolphins to make the playoffs.  In a thrilling back and forth game from both sides, that relied so heavily on the running game, the Patriots came out on top 13-0 against the struggling Buffalo Bills.  Their season now rested in the hands of the New York Jets.

The Jets, though they put up a valiant effort against the Dolphins couldn't stop the Dolphins from winning 24-17.

And thus, ends what was a remarkable season for the New England Patriots and Matt Cassel.  Finishing with an 11-5 record and not making the playoffs is simply unlucky.

Now, lets just take a moment to look at the youngster behind center.  Matt Cassel throughout the year threw for 3,693 yards, completed 327 passes, 21 TDs, and had a rating of 89.4...damn impressive numbers for your first season as a starter.

So, on behalf of all of Patriot Nation, I would like to thank Matt Cassel for one hell of a good season, and say good luck in whatever your future holds as a NFL quarterback!

Is this a good laptop?

It's a dell studio 15. I'll use it for general school use and the occasional game online like miniclip.

You can't go wrong and I recommend Dell! There are hidden long-run costs that one does not initially see when you purchase a Notebook PC other than Dell, HP or IBM and later encounter difficulties or attempt buying replacement parts like a battery, or say a keyboard etc.

Also since you're buying for college then I do NOT recommend a Notebook PC bigger than 15.4" bec we have 3 DELLs incl a larger 17" Notebook PC and the larger ones are nice but much too heavy to lug around campus as well as too big for lecture hall desks in college...

I mentioned we own 3 Dell Notebook PCs and why I recommend DELL, HP or IBM for those living in the United States is that those 3 particular PC Notebook manufacturers literally supply all the business Notebook PCs to the major corporations and Government so replacement parts are readily available esp on EBAY at even a more reasonable price than the manufacturer website. Thus in the long run, being able to get the exact replacement part extends the life on your investment.

FYI my 1st Notebook PC was Gateway bec I couldn't afford Dell at the time and what a mistake is was when I needed to purchase a new Notebook battery <= costly bec not readily available like Dells... and FYI I also ran into a similar problem when attempting to upgrade the memory.
