There are many styles and locations to consider when purchasing your new sideboard. Sideboards from made in Italy as part of designer furniture collections can have a touch of old world class, and Italian furniture is renowned throughout the world. Sideboards made in Portugal or Spain also have old world flair, with new modern designs. Where ever you choose to buy your sideboard from, you will find distinct differences that can enhance your dining room and give you elegance in extra table space and storage.
In addition to the tradition wooden or white sideboard, you may want to add a touch of sleek elegance with a black sideboard. They can come in many different finishes. Lacquer black finishes can come in a glossy finish or be ordered to have a matte finish. Keep in mind your specific needs. How do I paint over a black wall and a red wall. It is a glossy finish, hopefully latex.?
The other three walls in each room are white. I want all four walls in each room to be a light neutral color such as khaki or a light taupe. Just concerned that the paint won't stick to the colored walls. It's feels very slick.
Wipe the walls down with TSP. Prime with water-based Kilz-It tinted to your paint color. Find the color paint at the paint store and have the primer tinted the darker shade since it will be lighter. Primer is cheaper than paint so it won't take but one coat of paint once you have covered the black and red wall with primer(2 coats). If it's just the 2 walls you may be able to get by with one quart of tinted primer if you apply with a small sponge roller and place the roller in a plastic zip-lock bag in the fridge between coats. I have painted a whole room with one quart of paint using a small sponge roller and placing it in the fridge. So much paint is wasted washing out a large roller and soaking up of paint. I find it much easier using the small sponge rollers because you don't have to apply so much pressure to get the paint from the roller to the wall. It doesn't splatter like the large rollers do either! I also use the paint pads so I don't have to tape the ceiling off or around doorways.
