Using a Prepaid Debit Card as a Payroll Card
Most companies nowadays are turning toward electronic payment options such as direct deposit and the use of a prepaid debit card for payroll funds. By encouraging employees to opt for electronic transfer of payroll funds, employers get to cut down on expenses. It costs around 1-2 dollars per pay period to issue paper checks to company employees. 2.Employees at A1 Cleaning are often hired on a casual basis. The cleaning supervisor at each site hires the necessary employees as needed and sends details to the business headquarters where accounting staff open a new employee file. Time sheets for the employees are filled out by the Supervisor who then faxes them to the Accounting Department. The Accounting Department then prepares the payroll which is paid by electronic funds into the employees’ bank accounts.
The site supervisors can supply false info to accounting staff, open false accounts and so collect moneys they are not suppose to receive.
Proof of identity and proof of ownership of the bank accounts of the casual employees needs to be attached to the time sheets for verification by headoffice before payments can be made. the employees and supervisor need to sign next to the time sheets.
It is difficult on site and sometimes there cannot be seperate duties or the employees cannot go and collect the money in person from headoffice,or it is not possible for someone from headoffice to go to the sites and pay the people, which would be safer from an audit view.
