Experienced artists, what brand of drawing pencils do you use?
What is the best brand of drawing pencils?
And what about color pencils? What brand is the best?
I'm searching for gifts for my niece, who is an experienced artist.
I use Staedtler pencils, but I think the brands don't vary much for graphite. Get a full range from at least 4H to 9B (I think they go up to 9H, but I don't use those really hard ones).
I use Prismacolor colored pencils, but I've heard that Faber-Castells are much better. They don't break while being sharpened like the Prismacolors. More expensive, though.
I also love charcoal pencils. They are nice and black and not as messy as sticks or vines. I use General's. Conte sticks are also great for drawing, and they come in colors like sepia and sanguine.
