Economical Sony AIT 5, SDX5-400C Tape Storage Technology
Shrinking IT budgets, regulatory compliance needs and voluminous corporate databases have posed tremendous challenges to the 21st century business enterprises. On the other hand, your corporate data is also vulnerable to storage system failures, viruses, software bugs, natural catastrophes and common operating errors. AIT (advanced intelligent tape) is the ideal backup technology for storage-intensive SMBs. AIT tape is almost 1/3rd the size of competing half-inch backup tapes, which is an advantageous benefit for organizations with limited data-center space. That is why AIT format has maintained a high market share.
Sony is the pioneer of AIT tape media format. AIT technology offers a wide range of capacities. Multiple generations ranging from AIT-1 to AIT5 tape facilitate the organizations to standardize on a single storage format. Sony AIT-5 tape technology has become an industry standard for busy data centers, servers, public organizations, small enterprises, workstations and mid-range backup environments. 400GB uncompressed data can be packed on a single AIT5 cartridge.
Sony AIT-5 drive family features AITe1040SBK (external AIT-5 drive) and AITi1040S (internal AIT-5 tape drive). So the users can flexibly select the AIT-5 drive model that best suits their I.T infrastructure. AIT-5 drive achieves ultra-high speed of 24 MB/second (un-compressed). So the users can seamlessly complete their job tasks in a shorter time frame, which results in higher operating efficiency and staff productivity.
These AIT 5 drives feature Ultra 160 SCSI LVD/SE connectivity option. Readers will be amazed to know that Sony AIT5 drives can write/read previous three AIT versions, which includes AIT4 tape, AIT-3EX and AIT3 media.
Data administrators prefer AIT format because it provides an exceptional 2.6:1 data compression. Therefore in compressed mode, the capacity of AIT5 tape increases to 1.04 TB. With the introduction of WORM mechanism, the AIT-5 customers can meet the government regulations such as Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, HIPPA and many others in a cost effective manner. Part numbers of Sony's AIT 5 cartridges are SDX5-400C (non-WORM) and SDX5-400W (WORM enabled cartridge). WORM mechanism prevents alteration, overwriting and erasure of recorded data.
Close competitors of AIT format are SDLT, LTO ultrium3, Travan, LTO2, DAT/DDS, LTO1 ultrium and DLT. All of these backup tapes are offered by Sony. You can use the following Sony tapes in SMBs:
QTRNS8-A4, Sony Travan TR4 tape
DGDAT72, Sony DAT72 backup tape
LTX100G, Sony LTO1 ultrium tape
SDLT1-320, Sony SDLT1 backup tape
DGD-150P, Sony DDS4 tape
LTX200GWW, Sony LTO2 ultrium tape
Sony AIT5 drive features a super-fast data searching speed of 2,700MB/second. The average MTBF rating of rival tape drives is 250,000 hrs. On the other hand, AIT-5 drives achieve an unparalleled MTBF of 400,000 hours, which helps to ensure long term data protection. Regular use of Sony SDX5-CL, cleaning cartridge keeps your AIT 5 drive in top condition. In addition, special "dust protective bezels" have been introduced in Sony AIT5 drive to help protect against dust particles, pollutants and airborne contaminants.
With AIT5 technology, your business data is more secure.

NTDLR is missing when i cleaned out my hard drive?
my first computer had a whole bunch of viruses(like 500) so i connected the hard drive to my new computer and deleted everything on the hard drive from my first computer. Then i connected the cleaned hard drive back into my first computer. When i try to start it up i get the NTDLR is missing, because it has nowhere to boot from. What can i do to fix this? i thought that the system cd or recovery cd might help me but the only option i get is press ctr alt dlt to restart. is there any way i can install the os on the cleaned out hard drive using my new comp( will NTDLR also be installed:?)
Okay, if you deleted everything then you must re-install an operating system. You can not do this from your new computer (as it would not work properly on your old computer without a major amount of work afterwards).
If you have the restore CD that came with the computer this will reinstall the operating system. However, you must make sure you are booting from the CD. There will be a setting in your computer's BIOS which controls the 'Boot Order', which will need to be set with the CD before the Hard Drive.
Alternatively, many computers offer a 'Boot Menu' which can be accessed when the computer is turned on, before the POST is completed. Without knowing the Make and Model of your computer (or the motherboard if your computer is not a branded make), it is impossible to tell you how to access the boot menu. However, the POST screen should tell you.
The keys used to access the BIOS and boot menu's on most computers are:
F1, F2, F10, F11, F12, Del (not the backspace key), Enter or TAB.
