The idea is to have the room a type of "getaway." The feel as if you were traveling.
I would caution you about the white carpet - for maintenance purposes mainly, but also the stark contrast with the deep red walls. Depending on the size of the room, painting all the walls red could appear very claustrophobic. I would recommend looking up images of spa hotel suites to get some ideas of this "getaway" theme. I think you'll find that using softer colors on the walls - like calming grey-blues or chocolates - will feel much more like a relaxing getaway. If you're set on the soft white, you might just use a flokati area rug, rather than an entire wall to wall white. The black and white photos are a great idea. If you'll frame them very simply and in the exact same size for all of them, it will add an orderly, classy accent. Go as large as you can afford.
