Problem solving normally involves looking beyond the most obvious solutions.

It’s hard to see how performance management could deliver any value.

A person might have predetermined plans for integrating a system.

However the system might already possess good demonstration programs showing that all the functionality works.

Performance management would discourage any attention to such extra “goodies”.

Seems to be designed by morons for morons.

Would be beloved by the workplace psychopath who is kept informed of what the performance management is supposedly achieving, the workplace psychopath being able to then appear knowledgeable and pretend to be contributing.

How else are you going to have documentation that a person deserves a pay increase or a promotion? A company can not just pay you what you want, there has to be just cause for why you get paid what you are paid. There are stockholders that need to be presetned this information in order to justify the way budgets are prepared and salaries are graded. It is the same as in education, the better your work is, the better your marks will be. If you don't put in anything, you can't get anything out of it. It may not seem fair when we are downgraded and are not given rewards for our productivity, and in all fairness, it is fair to feel taken advantage of in that case. I stopped working for those who are total mornons, and I kept looking until I found a company that was the right fit for me. In the middle time, I worked here and there, and put up with substandard environments as well as a substandard labor pool (my opinion), and used that as a motivation to get the hell out of there and to where I really wanted to be. It has taken many years, but when you find the right place, it is all worth the effort. Find somewhere that you acutally like working at, and it will be second nature to you to flourish and outshine others. Please, do not be so discouraged. It can't be helped that morons are in management at times, you don't have to work for them. When you don't like your life, DO SOMETHING to change it!
