Is their a Federal Law that requires an employer to pay employee for four hours when showing up for work ?

Our employer schedules us for a 6-8 hour shift daily... then he sends us home only after an hour and a half - two hours. Years ago when I was with Cagles, if we came to work and were sent home due to lack of work we were paid for four hours unless we worked over four then it was time worked. Is this law still in effect?
If so where can I find it?

Some states, such as New Hampshire (where I lived for twenty years) specify that an employer must pay you for a minimum of 2 hours of work regardless of how short your shift was. Michigan (where I live now) has a similar law.

Although, I'll confess I'm not sure if there is a FEDERAL law or regulation in place for such an issue.

I would first check with your state's department of labor or attorney general's office. That would be a good starting point. Good luck!
