Latest Underfloor Heating Resolution....??
One of the underfloor heating suppliers who approached me said,his company has a new UH resolution. Their pipes are thinner than conventional ones and don't need concrete fillings afterwards. They fix the pipes onto the base floor by numerous clips and put a large plastic plate (of some particular material) on it and then you pave wooden floor or tiles on it. I can't imagine how does that work. Wouldn't ur floor or tiles be really loose on a layer like that?. Any pros has heard of it? Is it a scam?
tiles need something solid to set on, otherwise the thinset & grout will crack - never heard of UH w/o concrete set to hold the heat your pumping through the floor - the pipes will be heating air, which doesn't retain heat as well.
If it were me, I'd pass that one by...
