Graffiti Supplies 101: What you need to get started
If you are interested in getting started doing graffiti, then I am going to run you through what you need to buy. It all mostly depends on what you exactly want to do: stencil work, or straight up tagging. We will cover these two types of graffiti and what you need to do them.
Graffiti Stenciling
Stenciling is a great way to get started doing graffiti. The hardest part is creating and cutting out the stencils, but after that you can easily spray the stencils up and re-use them. Graffiti stenciling is getting huge also with artists like Banksy doing great stencil work.
The main thing you need is an Xacto knife. This is a very fine/sharp blade that will allow you to cut out your stencils with great precision. There are many brands, but Xacto is the way to go!
As far as making the stencil, most people will create the image in Photoshop and print it out. You can then need something to cut the stencil out on. Some people use cardboard, but I prefer to use paper designed just for this. Wax stencil paper is the best due to its firmness, plus its translucent.
You will also need some spray paint to actually spray the stencil. For more information on that see the section below on Graffiti.
Tagging
Tagging is the original way to do graffiti. In tagging you use straight up spray paint and your hands to design jaw-dropping art. The biggest difference here is the quality of the paint you use. If you are just starting out, simple spray paint from Walmart or Home Depot is the best way to go. Its cheap, and if you are new, you are going to want to cheap paint. (since you might mess up a lot).
But if you are feeling confident there are tons of great brands of Spray Paint to use. Montana Gold is a very popular brand is actually available in many art stores in the USA. They have MANY different colors and can sizes. My preferred brand.

Anyone ever tried shaving crayons then crushing the shavings with an Xacto blade?
And I have taken crayon shavings and folded them into parrafin wax candles.
