Is cracking backs bad for the person having it done to?
If you have another person help you crack your back is it possible to get hurt by doing this.... Lay each hand on the opposite collar bone. As if you were giving yourself a hug??? Sounds weird but the only way to explain it. They wrap their arms around your arms(right above where your elbows are) and pick you up. When they pick you up kind of arch their back a little. Really hard to explain but it works when my friend does it to me.
Can this hurt me in anyway?
Yes, it can hurt you. When you crack your back you are getting relief because it temporarily "stuns" the part that is causing you pain. However, it just makes the joint looser and looser- it feels like it needs to be cracked in the first place because of a lack of muscle stability in that area, and every time you crack it the muscles loosen more and more. Also, there is the risk you will move at just the wrong way and either throw out your back entirely or get a nerve stuck somewhere it shouldn't be.
The only way to actually help it is to do exercises and stretches that will help build up the muscles so that they can support your back adequately.
